My school has a mean teacher who is always telling us what to do. She yells and yells and yells all day like she has nothing better to do. What can I do??

Here's what kids like you thought:

Julia, age 9, CA
I think you should tell your parents, and they will probably give an e-mail to the teacher or principal.Moe,

youkai_ghost, age 13, SC
If your teacher yells at you, you should confront her in a respectful manner, like just simply walking up to her desk one day while she’s not busy, and you've completed all your work, and ask nicely, Mrs.______ could you not yell at me please. And if that doesn’t help talk to your guidance counsler or your principal. As for the telling you what to do, that’s her job just do what she asks of you.

Moe, age 15, MT
Tell the teacher you don't like her shouting and then look sad.

Shannon, age 10, United Kingdom
If your teacher just keeps moaning at your class just ignore her, don’t answer back. All teachers mostly do is moan, it’s what they’re good at and what there they’re for. Just try to have fun and hopefully the day will go quicker and then you can go home and relax.

Sometimes my little sis and me don't get along because she's the one who gets to do things. How can we have a better relationship?

Here's what kids like you thought:

Derek, age 12, MI
Kabria, show your parents how responsible you can be. My little sister always got to get two brownies, while I only got one. Next time your little sister gets something you wanted, be cool. Show your parents that you can handle a situation without whining. Chances are, the tables will turn.

Sofia, age 9, VA
You’re older then her so she gets more privileges. Spend time with her.

There is this bully in my class and I want to resolve our differences because I don't want things to get ugly. Can you help me?

Here's what kids like you thought:

DeVon, age 11, FL
You can talk with them and tell them you want to be friends and they will need to stop acting like that with you. If it does not work, then tell the teacher and see what else can be done.

Mihika, age 11, CA
Well Vanessa, I think you should first show him/her that there are lots of things in common between you and the bully. smile when he/she walks by and DO NOT look afraid (that'll lure them in to you more!) So just relax and talk to them. Hope my advice works!

I am very good at baseball, basketball and cheerleading, but no one knows and I try to make them know but it does not work. I need some ideas. What should I do??? I am desperate!!!

Here's what kids like you thought:

Lillian, age 10, IA
I think that you should just ask them to play and show how good you are.

Jennie, age 9, FL
Just let it go. Once you become famous those people will get jealous and they will believe you.

Brittany, age 12, DE
Why does everyone need to know that you are good at those things? If you know it yourself, that's all that should matter

Apple, age 18, the Philippines
Each of us needs attention and appreciation...try to be an optimist!!! not all people like what you do even if you don't do badly, like the saying "You cannot please everybody"...you think it doesn't work because they don't appreciate your potential/achievements...it's ok, don't be desperate!!! Smile and say never mind...just do good, improve and keep your feet on the ground!!!

Katie, age 12, PA
Why do you need to show everybody that? Just wondering. And if you want them to know it I think that time will come, maybe dropping hints WITHOUT bragging.

My 8 year old brother is always playing game boy and won't play a board game with me. What should I do?

Here's what kids like you thought:

Vanessa, age 9, FL
Maybe you could create a board game yourself or with some friends, and its like your brother's GameBoy but its a board game and it could have his favorite characters in it.

Katie, age 10, TN
I think that you should talk to him and ask him to make room for you, besides, that's what brothers are for!!!

Lindsay, age 11, TN
I think that you should (MUST) tell him that you really want him to play board games with you and to lay back off of some games. If that does not work, then have a family board game Friday, where all of your family will play board games with you. I know 'cause my friend does that!!! I think that you should listen to my advice.

I have a crush on someone but I don't know if he likes me back. What should I do to know if he likes me or not?

Here's what kids like you thought:

Sara, age 10, NJ
Does he know? You probably won't find out if he doesn't know. If he does, and you don't know, get your friends to ask him.

Brittany, age 13, NY
I would tell the boy I like him and if he says he doesn't like me back I would just say, you lost a chance at being with a wonderful girl like me so that's okay. Or I would say we can be friends if you like that, then be boyfriend and girlfriend. It's better being friends and then telling him you like him, because your relationship could change between each other. That's what I would do, to just stay best friends and hold my feelings in until I got a chance to find out if he likes me back.

Cloe, age 10, Scotland
If you like somebody you have to talk to him, tell him how you feel, then every day go for some coffee. Then he will ask you out for dinner and when you are eating you start to kiss and the ROMANCE begins. then he's yours. he is your boyfriend. then it is marriage.

Athena, age 11, CT
Does this person have a brother or sister? If so ask them. They should know!

I am trying to get a dog, but my mom thinks i'm not responsible. What should I do to get a dog, show that i'm responsible? Extra tasks won't do it, and i've tried it. She won't even trust me babysitting for a while, even though I'm certified.

Here's what kids like you thought:

Angie, age 12, AZ
Well, if extra tasks didn't work, try to act more responsible. Like, if your mom tells you to do something, do it right away. Try to get home as early as you can. Do all your chores, keep your room clean, don't talk back to your parents, and be more clean. Try to keep friends out of the family situations so they can see that you're growing up and becoming more responsible. If you have any siblings, care for them, as if they were your own children. That's my advice to you.

Christina, age 10, Canada
i think that if one of your friends has a dog then ask them if you can borrow it. then ask her/him what you have to do, then do whatever. i'm also having troubles i also want a dog too. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keonte, age 11, MD
I think u should persuade her more. Also u should at least ask her if u can get one for your birthday.

Snow leopards are very important to me. I think we should do anything we can for them and every other animal that needs help!!! What do you think?

Here's what kids like you thought:

Athena, age 10, CT
I think that is a great idea! I think that ALL animals should be helped when they need help.

Olivia, age 9, WV

Make a club at school about animals get the club together and go to an animal shelter on Saturdays. Try making signs for kids to help the environment for Snow leopards

Desarae, age 11, WI
i think we should too because they are very cool animals. So that's a yes for me

I am 11 years old and I have a little sister who is 8 years old. I need some privacy and some more privileges. I am growing up, but my parents don't seem to notice that. What should I do?

Here's what kids like you thought:

Rachel, age 13, AL
Well, one thing to show your parents that you're grown up, is to be more responsible and mature. One way to do this is always keep up with your studies and keep your book bag organized. Also when babysitting your little sister be nice to her and do the best job you can while watching her. Also respect your parents, and know that what they tell you is not to harm you but help.

Beth, age 15, VA
Hey, I think that you should tell your parents that you're not a little kid like your sister anymore. But tell them nicely you don't want to get in an argument, and make them think you're acting like you don't deserve new privileges. I'm 15 so I know what it's like to want more privileges, you just don't want too much at one time. By the time you're my age you might not want to talk to your family like me, but trust me your family will ALWAYS be there for you! Have fun being a kid while you can! ok? Good luck!!

Chris, age 10, CA
tell your parents what you think, or ask them, but my guess is that you should tell them

Why do people eat animals?

Here's what kids like you thought:

Mariah, age 12, IL
I think that people eat animals because they were taught that. But i think it is cruel. The animals don't deserve it. They have no say in it, what if they had families. How would you feel if someone took you away from your family and killed you. Animals are alive not food!

Juliet, age 10
I think people eat animals because that's what they are told to do as children. I also think that using animals for food is cruel, and further more, the animals DO NOT deserve it!!!

Laquechia, age 10, LA
I think that people eat animals because they have lot of nutrition

Evan, age 9, FL
Because a lot people like meat better than plants.

Angie, age 11, AZ
I think that people eat animals because it's part of their healthy diet. I myself care A LOT about animals and I just love them. I eat meat....I try to become a vegetarian, but I just can't, meat's too good! So that might be another reason to why people eat meat. There are plenty more reasons, but it'd be too long to type 'em all here.

Emmie, age 16, MI
Not only do animal products taste good, they have many healthy nutrients. Meat has Iron, Fiber, B12, and many other things that you need to keep you healthy. The protein helps you grow. The Fiber blocks fat. The Iron builds strong bones. This only reinforces the fact that the meat from animals tastes very good.

Patricia, age 12, FL
I think people eat animals because they found that they have nutrition which we need to live. They probably don't think that they are killing something dear or known to us that will disappear if we kill too many. They're just hungry!

Carolyn, age 11, GA
In Genesis (in the Bible) it says that God gave the animals and all fruits and vegetables to Adam for us to eat, so basically, because God gave them to us to eat!

Melanie, age 5, SD
Meat can be good for you because it helps you grow because the protein makes your muscles grow.

Why is brown rice healthy?

Here's what kids like you thought:

Rachel, age 12, AL
Maybe brown rice has more minerals or something in its ingredients that are good for you.

Angie, age 11, AZ
I have no clue why brown rice is so healthy — but I'm just gonna guess. Brown rice might be so healthy because maybe it's organic or just has more vitamins and minerals that our body needs. Or it might just be so healthy when you just cook it or you cook it a certain way or you add something to it.

From Your Friends at Kidsregen.org
Almost all of the nutrients in rice come from the bran, which is a layer found between the outside hull and the inner grain (the white part). White rice gets treated in factories to remove the hull and the bran, then the rice gets polished until it's bright white and shiny. And while it may be pretty, it's not that healthy anymore! Brown rice keeps its nutritious bran layer, so it's naturally full of important vitamins and minerals, including niacin, vitamin B6, vitamin E, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, and selenium, plus a lot more fiber than white rice.

How can I get my mom to ride bikes with me more often? It's always so much fun but she's always busy or tired.

Here's what kids like you thought:

Milynda, age 12, AZ
I think that your mom should ride bikes with you, you should try to say that you'll get really skinny and you'll have some muscle, because usually mothers say, no I'm too fat or I need some muscle. Well there's the exercise, and try to convince her that you can't keep staying in and talking on the phone or on the internet and wasting more money on the electric bills. Because they always say, you're always on the phone, go out and play. So just say some of those things. Trust me I've said them before.

Sandra, age 12, AZ
I think that to get your mom to ride bikes with you, you should tell her how nice the day is and tell her that she really needs to get out sometime with her child! Tell her how much fun it is to hang out with her! Tell her that you want to spend time with her!

Angie, age 11, AZ
I think that u should kinda let her down a little easy — little by little. You should try to convince her that she also needs excersice. If she says no and starts with the whole "I'm getting old..." thing (not that I'm calling your mom old), just tell her that your young and u need some fresh air. If she's still busy or tired, just ask some friends or your dad or some other relative. But don't feel lonely — my parents are always busy too and I barely even see my dad. Ok that's all.

Haley, age 11, IL
tell her you never know when you can get hurt and not be able to ride. People have that happen and they regret it. She needs to spend time with you and you need to show and explain how you feel. You might persuade her to go with you.

Ellie, age 9, AL
Tell her that she needs to exercise

Charisse, age 10, GA
Maybe you should pick a time when she isn't tired or busy like during the weekend or holidays.

Carley, age 11, WI
I think you should help your mom do the things that are around the house so that she won't be so tired.Or tell her that you'll do it with her after you go bike riding.

Dez, age 16, Hungary
My parents is busy too, i play online games, this is really fun for me, so i can program computer programs/games, i am very helpful. Sorry about my english, i am not speak english very well, but everybody understand me. If you want ride a bike, you can do that, if you can't, you can learn how you do. And you can try another fun things, like swim in a pool. This is my favorite thing in summer. In winter, i play computer games. In this site written a lot of great things, i read some of these. So, keep your mom busy and sleep, you can do a lot of great things.

Beth, age 37, CA
If you want your mother or father to have time to go on bike rides with you, help them with the household chores, like cleaning your room, washing the dishes, or picking up the laundry. That way they will have more time to spend having fun with you.

I want to start a job but I don't know what to do...

Here's what kids like you thought:

Check out these tips, and make sure to ask your parent or guardian for permission before you look for a job or start working!

Ben, age 8
start by selling lemonade then start a pet busines that should do it

Carolyn, age 10, GA
What's something you love to do? Or is theresomething you like for example, dogs? Well go out and walk dogs wash dogs or even maybe train dogs. Dogs are just a example you could pick out anything and divide down all it takes to care for it and pick one of those jobs. Then... MAKE SOME POSTERS!!!

Scarlet, age 10, MI
you should ask your mom what you can do!

Diamond, age 10, PA
u should start a easy job.

Brittany, age 11, NV
You should start thinking of something and be creative. If possible, find research.

Eve, age 11, KS
Well Lydia, think about something you like our want to do. Like if you like to bake you can have a bakery sale. If you just want a job thats voluntary you can work at an animal shelter, or clean up the park, etc.

T, age 33, VA
cut grass on the weekend or babysit or something...wait to work — there will be plenty of work later on in life don't grow up too soon

My brother is always picking on me and he bosses me around. I've already asked him to stop it 100 times but he won't stop. What do I do?

Here's what kids like you thought:

BB, age 12, CA
If your brother is older than you, you should just talk to you parents but if he is younger then it shouldn't be difficult for you to think of some pranks to get him back. Sometimes all you have to do is hit him with a book or pillow or maybe squirt him with a water bottle, nothing to drastic. Just something simple to get the message to his head.

Desiree, age 11, WA
You should go to a parent and tell them what is going on or RUN AWAY FROM HIM WHENEVER YOU SEE HIM!

Jimmy, age 15, PA
My brother always picked on me when I was young. Maybe ask him why he picks on you so much and tell him that it hurts your feelings. If that doesn't work, go to your mommy and see if she can convince your brother to stop it. Hang in there!

My older sister is in every activity that I'm in and she even has the same friends as me and she's 13! She's in the same dance class as me, she has all my friends, she's in the clinic with me. It feels like she's taking over my life. What should I do?

Here's what kids like you thought:

Carmen, age 13, CA
I think you should tell her to please get some friends of her own to talk to.

Justin, age 8, FL
You should tell her your problem and ask her to maybe get some friends of her own.

Nina, age 8, CA
I think you should treat as if she was your friend. And if you don't like her following you ask your mom to put her in a higher class. But to me I would ask my parents to help.

Heather, age 12, PA
I think you should find something that you are interested in, but she isn't. Do that and also try to have a sense of individuality, and not worry about what your sister thinks.

Does anybody like football on this website????

Here's what kids like you thought:

Leanza, age 10, PA
I don't really like football. It's kind of boring. All they do is run around on grass with a ball and jump on each other. I don't really see the point in it.

From Your Friends at Kidsregen.org
Any physical activity that gets you outside, keeps you active, and is a lot of fun sounds great to us! Playing football does all this, plus it helps you stay fit and teaches you to be a team player. Football exercises your muscles and your brain, thanks to all of the strategies and plays involved in the game.

Here's a little secret that all the professional football players know...one of the best ways to not get hurt is to be in great shape! Eating healthy meals, combined with exercise and regular stretching makes your body flexible and strong — which can prevent injury and give you an extra edge on the field.

For some exercises and stretches to help you play a great game, check out the Kidsregen.org Fitness Program!

If you could create the ideal school, what would you change, what would you do for better classes, more interesting courses, better relationships with teachers, etc.?

Here's what kids like you thought:

Shereen, age 16, CA
I think an ideal school would be a homeschool. I am homeschooled and I can accomplish a lot more than what I could if I went to a public high school. I can go on field trips that I like with my friends and my mom, and have a lot more fun! I think public schools should ask the kids what they think would be fun and educational and put it in their program!

Jenny, age 11, IL
An ideal school would be a school where there is no teasing, all the teachers are nice, and NO homework.

Amy, age 11, OH
Hiking all day. For the last hour of the day [in camp shelter] we write about what happened and find something educational and FUN to do.

Emma Jenny, age 21, England
I think that teachers should not be so strict in schools.

What should I do to start a relationship with a girl that's my same age?

Here's what kids like you thought:

Patrice, age 14, OH
you have to be nice and treat people the way you wonna be treated and tell them how you feel about something

Sophia, age 15, NJ
I think to start a new relationship you have to (i mean, you MUST) be kind, (which is a key to being popular) nice looking and have a big heart. It worked with my boyfriend = ).

My mother never gives me any privacy. What should I do?

Here's what kids like you thought:

Kira, age 11, WA
maybe w/examples she'll understand. tell her u need privacy becuz u have 2 do you're homework & pay attention. and when u talk on the phone 2 your friends, that u need to b alone so u don't have 2 talk 2 loud & make everyone in your family mad.

Justin, age 12, CA
well i think that you should just explain to your mother that you would like some privacy. for example: mom i will be 13 soon and i need you to give me some space and some privacy.

My grandmother treats me like a baby. It drives me crazy, I am almost 12 years old! I want to tell her but I am not sure how, I don't want to hurt her feelings. Any suggestions?

Here's what kids like you thought:

Angelb, age 12, MD
I think you should write it in a descent letter.

Marie, age 12, IL
Tell her about all the things that your parents trust you to do. So she should trust you too. That's what I did with my aunt and she understoood.

What would be something great and different to give my teacher as a good-bye present for the end of the year? I really loved her, she was such a nice teacher!

Here's what kids like you thought:

The 3rd Grade Class of Ms. Hammerhill, MD
Our teacher loves to garden, so we collected money and we bought lots of seed packets. Lots of flowers that she can remember us by. We got a really nice metal box that we decorated with sunflower and pumpkin seeds and pictures of us that we took this year at school. And we put the seed packets in it. She was so happy when she got it, she cried.

I am bored with the snacks my Mom prepares for me after school, do you have any ideas to give her for something delicious and new?

Here's what kids like you thought:

Alexandra, age 12, NJ
Maybe you could make your own snacks. Or you could make up little people or animals from banannas or apples. That's what I sometimes do.

Shannon, age 17, Canada
I would suggest a mini-pizza made on an english muffin with sauce, shredded cheese and fresh vegetables. They make a tasty treat and it only takes a few minutes in the toaster oven or microwave.

Jeremy, age 18, PA
Cut up apples, pears, peaches, bananas, into interesting shapes and sizes. Mmmmm, yummy.

If food in the grocery store says it's organic, what does that mean?

Here's what kids like you thought:

Nathaniel, age 5
Good healthy food. Good vegetables. No chemicals. Using worms for the soil the food grows in.

Paxton, age 7, MD
Organic means that it does not have pesticides in it, and that it is good for you.

Eve, age 14, DE
To me, it usually means that it's more expensive. My mom uses food stamps for groceries and I can't get organic food with food stamps. I wish one day everyone can afford this kind of food because I keep reading it's better for me.

What do you think should be done about violence in schools?

Here's what kids like you thought:

Heidi, age 14, OR
i think that violence should be removed from tv and video games because it makes kids think its cool to hurt people, or that its okay.

people on TV and in video games dont really die, but in real life they do.

kids dont get the connection.

Why do Easter bunnies give candy?

Here's what kids like you thought:

Naomi, age 10, WI
I think the easter bunny gives us candy because we can be happy during Easter!!

Robyn, age 10, MD
I think the Easter Bunny give candy beacuse he loves kids he knows what kids like and every thing. So thats why I think the Easter Bunny gives candy.

Hilary, age 8, MN
i think Bunnys give chocolate because it's a triadtion. maybe long time ago, people gave out chocolate and then a bunny stole it and gave it to some one else.

Caroline, age 7, GA
Because we have been good all year. We have been patient all year, too. We deserve a treat.

Emily, age 9, NC
Becuase most kids (some adults) have a certain tooth for this tasty bite size snack.

I am thinking about getting a puppy and I would like to know what kind of organic foods exist for dogs. Can you help me?

Here's what kids like you thought:

Hyllary, age 12, AL
There's all kind of good organic food for dogs just punch organic dog food in at www.google.com and you'll find a lot. My favorite things are these mix that you get that comes with a cooky cutter in the shape of a bone. You can make your dog the best treats this way. Hope this helped.

Ever see an adult polluting the environment by dropping trash or pouring old paint or oil on the ground? What would you say to encourage them to keep the planet clean and healthy for everyone?

Here's what kids like you thought:

Justine, age 13
I think people are just to lazy to pick up after them and people should be fined if saw littering.

Margaux, age 9
Don't litter the world because if you do we won't have
a beautiful world.

Kathleen, age 10, MO
I think people should never litter. We should all be nice to the earth!

Jeff, age 11, FL
I live by the ocean and I want it to say clean and beautiful.

Shawn, age 11, CO
My neighbor always put his garbage out in trash bags that weren't tied. Trash would end up blowing all over the place! Me and my sister asked him if he could please just tie the bags shut. And the next week he did. I think he just needed a little push in the right direction.
